GRSLBG&B is pleased to announce Edward W. Chen has joined the Firm’s Litigation Department as an Associate. Edward represents the interests of insurance carriers and self-insured companies in all aspects of litigation, including trials and appellate practices. Edward concentrates his practice in the area of General Liability and Construction Law, including labor law, personal injury, and premises liability claims throughout New York and New Jersey.
Edward joined GRSLBG&B in April 2021. He graduated from the University at Albany, State University of New York, in 1998 and received his law degree from the University of Buffalo in 2001. While in law school, he interned at the Office of the Attorney General in Albany and the Queens District Attorney’s Office in New York.
Prior to joining GRSLBG&B, Edward began his career at an in-house counsel firm for a national insurance carrier defending individuals and businesses in bodily injury actions in New York City and Long Island. He has continued defending insurance carriers throughout New York and New Jersey. Edward’s work includes precedent-setting case law under Mangra v. China Airlines, Ltd., 790 N.Y.S.2d 370, where his client escaped vicarious liability through the creative exclusion of forklifts under the definition of “motor vehicle.”
Edward is admitted to practice in New York State; the Eastern, Western, and Southern Districts of New York Federal Courts; New Jersey State; the United States District Court, District of New Jersey; and the District of Columbia.
Outside of the office, Edward enjoys cooking, running and gardening.
